Biography
Dr. Yang is an Associate Professor in Department of Anatomy & Cell Biology, University of Pennsylvania, School of Dental Medicine. She received her MD (1994) and PhD (2000) in China. She then completed postdoctoral fellowships in bone biology at The Forsyth Institute & Harvard School of Dental Medicine and the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. She was appointed an assistant Professor in Department of Oral Biology, in State University of New York at Buffalo in 2008 and then became a tenured associate professor in 2014, She joined University of Pennsylvania in June 2016. She is an author of over 50 papers published in international journals including Nature Communication, Cell Death & Differentiation, Journal of Bone & Mineral Research, Human Molecular Genetics, a reviewer for numerous journals and editorial board of several journals. She and her lab members are the recipients of numerous research awards including Most outstanding abstract award for top one abstract in American Society of Bone and Mineral Research Annual Meeting, ASBMR-John Haddad Young investigator award, Young Investigator Award. Dr. Yang’s lab has pursued innovative research on the mechanisms of bone formation and resorption, including craniofacial and bone development, metabolism and mechanostransduction, and stem cell-mediated bone regeneration.
